The museum Sharlot Hall built....
‘Mother of Arizona Museums’

The “Governor’s Mansion” was one of the first substantial structures built in the new town of Prescott in 1864, when most other dwellings were shanties or miners’ tents. The long-abandoned log-building was restored by Sharlot Hall and became the museum she envisioned as a young girl after listening to stories of those early Territorial days. She opened the museum doors and welcomed her first visitors on Monday, June 11, 1928.
