Scott Murray Brainard

Scott Murray Brainard, born Oct. 3, 1986, in Tucson, Arizona, passed away Sept. 30, 2017, in Surprise, Arizona, at the age of 30, and is now set free from his courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Alicia (Diaz); daughters Hayden and Kaylee; son Ashton; mother Kathryn; sisters Shelbi and Samantha Imes (Ethan); grandmother Marilyn; parents-in-law Carlos and Mary Diaz; brother-in-law Aaron Diaz (Jera); sister-in-law Christy Alley (Nicholas); a handful of nieces and a nephew, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Murray Brainard and Randal Leach, and father Scott G. Brainard.

Scott learned at a young age the meaning of hard work. As a youngster and young man he spent what time he could on the road with his father and grandfather. When he was old enough, he followed in their footsteps by making a career in the transportation industry. It was a blessing and privilege to work alongside his dad and his uncle, John Brainard.

As much as he loved being on the road, each trip home to his family was even more looked forward to. Scott married his high school sweetheart in 2007 and they started a family shortly after. He was a loving husband and father and outstanding role model to his children. He spent most of his time in Arizona and a short time in Athens, Texas. He returned to Arizona after being diagnosed with cancer to be closer to family.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted at a later date. His ashes will be spread in the Williams area, where he spent so many happy times camping and hunting with family and friends.

Palm Valley Funeral Home in Sun City, Arizona, has been entrusted with final arrangements.
