Jan Steiner, 79, passed away on Nov. 26, 2017, surrounded by family in Prescott, Arizona. Jan was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Anton and Marguerite (Martelli) Heinrichs.

Jan graduated from Michigan State University (East Lansing) with a bachelor’s degree and later earned a Master’s of Early Childhood Education at Oakland University (Rochester Hills, Michigan). She was a longtime member of the American Association of University Women and served as President of the Prescott branch from 2003-2004.

During her 19 years of residency in Prescott, Jan was a member of the Red Hat Society. She served as an ambassador for the Prescott Chamber of Commerce and became a certified Arizona Master Gardener after having become certified in Michigan. She also worked extensively with the task force that helped to create the Del Webb Family Enrichment Center at Yavapai College in Prescott.

Jan is survived by her loving husband, Stan Steiner; their children Mindy Petzer (Steve), Tracey Steiner and Bret Steiner (Marti); grandchildren Mary Petzer and Noah, Adam, Jacob and Samantha Steiner; brothers Tom Heinrichs (Rose) and Ron Heinrichs (Kathy) and was aunt to Joanne Heinrichs Wise, Gretchen Heinrichs and Eric Heinrichs.

We will all hold fond memories of the family holidays that she made so special, as well and her lifelong love of gardening. We will remember her as we carry on those traditions ourselves. She will be deeply missed.
