DetailsBicycle enthusiasts from around the West are revving up for The Sharlot Haul on Saturday, August 17. Hosted by El Gato Azul in Prescott, this fun bicycle fundraiser is set to benefit the historic Sharlot Hall Museum at 415 W. Gurley Street which is now celebrating its 85th Anniversary. Several area businesses are sponsoring the event. High Gear Bicycle Shop of Prescott has donated a brand new Trek 29er Marlin Model bicycle, plus helmet and bike rack, as the winning prize for a raffle as part of this event. Other donors include the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe, Hensley Beverage Company, Foothills Bank, KPPV, Team OSCA, Prescott Area Independents, Lloyd’s Liquors, Windermere Real Estate, Action Graphics, Springhill Suites, House-Chilson Insurance, Arizona ENews and Costco. Beginning at 7 a.m., cyclists will be able to choose from one of three trails meandering through the majestic pines of the Prescott National Forest. The trails range from easy to difficult. Those desiring a road ride can take beautiful Highway 89 south of Prescott “as far as you want to go and back”! From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., riders who have completed the chosen trail can come to the Museum for a full BBQ feast provided by Jube’s BBQ of Prescott. The festivities will also include specialty beers for purchase, live entertainment by Cheek2Cheek and Salt of the Earth, special prizes and children’s activities. The cost of $30 per rider includes admission to the Museum grounds, a commemorative t-shirt, goody bag, the BBQ and one raffle ticket for the Trek 29er. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 each or 5 for $40. Those who do not wish to ride can still attend the festivities and BBQ at the Museum for just $20, and may also purchase raffle tickets. The drawing takes place the day of the race, and winners need not be present to claim the prize. All riders must register in advance. Deadlines for registration are Saturday, August 10 for those wishing to receive the commemorative t-shirt, with an absolute cutoff date of Friday, August 16.
