U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice was promoted to National Security Advisor Thursday by the president. Now she has to join the Writers Guild. Instead of delivering fictionalized talking points to the Sunday TV talk shows, she will be in the White House making them up.

UPS upgraded its security procedures Thursday and announced that customers will be required to produce a photo-ID before they will ship something. It's an idea they took from TSA airport security. First they check your ID and then they check your package.

Chrysler refused a U.S. government recall demand that the automaker recall over two million Jeeps and Grand Cherokees Wednesday. The government says the gas tank placement is unsafe. Anything that holds a hundred dollars worth of gasoline should be in a bank vault.

The Miss World Pageant announced Thursday it has banned bikinis in next month's pageant because it's being held in Indonesia where it's Muslim. Who scheduled the pageant there? They're going to use sarongs instead of bikinis, and as soon as the word gets out, they're going to use public service announcements instead of paid advertising.

Keith Olbermann was hired by TBS Thursday to anchor their Major League Baseball fall playoff coverage. He has lost previous gigs at KCBS, ESPN, MSNBC, Fox Sports, NBC Sports and Current TV. Keith Olbermann has been fired more times than a Civil War cannon.
