Church News: Week of Jan. 4

The Youth Ministry programs at Sacred Heart are having a rummage sale in the school gym from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 150 Fleury Ave. in Prescott. There is an early-bird preview sale from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Cost to enter the early-bird sale is $3 per person. This rummage sale benefits the Sacred Heart Youth Ministry programs.

AWANA resumes at First Southern Baptist Church Prescott Valley, 2820 Pleasant View Drive, at 6 p.m. on Jan. 16; sign language class resumes at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7; exercise class resumes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8; Wednesday night activities start Jan. 9 with Youth at 6 p.m., Young Adults Bible Study at 6:45 p.m. and Adult Bible Study at 7 p.m. A new class that will teach Brazilian embroidery starts Thursday, Jan. 10. A piano concert featuring Charles "Spunky" Creger will be the Wonder Full Wednesday program 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley. Creger has played the piano since the age of 3 and has been compared to Roger Williams, Liberace and Victor Borge. He enjoys inviting audiences to challenge his extensive repertoire with requests.

Women of Wisdom, an interdenominational Christian fellowship of Bible teaching and Bible studies for women of all ages and backgrounds, is now taking registrations the new session that begins on Jan. 9 and meets for eight weeks until Feb. 27. WOW meets on Wednesday mornings from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. at American Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott. The program includes coffee time, praise and worship music, prayer, a first-hour of Bible teaching and your choice of a second-hour Bible or "just for fun" class. Start the New Year with "God of Second Chances," a Bible study on the minor prophets. This study encourages you to examine your circumstances, your life and your relationship to God. All women are welcome. The winter session runs from Jan. 10 through March 14 at 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. every Thursday, at the First Church of the Nazarene. Open Door Baptist Church of Prescott Valley, 8451 E. Stevens Drive, presents the Christian film, "Courageous" 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. Starting in mid-February, there will be additional fellowship times before the beginning of the Sunday afternoon worship meetings. The meetings will include singing and a spiritual message. The Quad-Cities School of Ministry spring semester begins Jan. 13, with no charge for the first semester. This semester, the QCSOM will have two classes: Biblical Counseling Sunday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m., and Pneumatology, the study of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Classes will meet in the high school room of Calvary Chapel, 2313 E. Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents who have lost a child at any age or however long ago, meets the second Tuesday of each month at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley St. Pastor Carol Mumford leads the group, and any community member who has lost a child may attend. This is just one of the support groups that meets each month at PUMC. Other groups offer support for those with health issues such as breathing problems, cancer, depression and fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue.
