A meditation and personal development group led by the Rev. John M. Kohlenberger meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Prescott Public Library, 215 E. Goodwin St., in the Elsea Conference Room. The meditation circles focus on expanding our boundaries by being exposed to new ideas, then taking time to slow down and relax into a meditative state in which we connect with our own personal inner guidance. On Wednesday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to noon, drop your kids off at the Quad-City Vineyard for "Camping Under the Stars" Vacation Bible School, 9100 N. Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents who have lost a child at any age or however long ago, meets the second Tuesday of each month at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley St. Pastor Carol Mumford leads the group, and any community member who has lost a child may attend. This is just one of the support groups that meets each month at PUMC. Other groups offer support for those with health issues such as breathing problems, cancer, depression and fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue. The Prescott Zen Center, founded by Charlotte Joko Beck, offers sitting meditation on Thursdays from 5:15 to 7 p.m. On Sundays, meditation is from 9:45 a.m. to noon. Individual interviews and talks/discussions will take place regularly. For information and location, call Nan at 717-2717.
