But in case you're not familiar with a certain author, let me introduce you to a fellow named Bill Bryson, who published a book back in 2002 titled "Bryson's Dictionary of Troublesome Words" that carried the subtitle reading: "A Writer's Guide to Getting it Right".

Column: Memories of 'Some Like It Hot' remain strong
"Some Like It Hot" came to mind on Sunday, Oct. 5, during a visit to San Diego when son Kerry drove wife Pat, daughter Shannon and me across that high bridge to that highfalutin Hotel del Coronado. After all, it was unseasonably warmish that day - inching up to 90 or so degrees - so the title of that 1959 flick which was filmed at the vintage showcase hotel was apropos.

Column: Therapy horses help veterans find serenity
Therapy dogs are a common and welcome sight in hospital settings as they go about spreading sunshine to patients by means of their comforting presence. Therapy horses, on the other hand, are not so commonplace, but they're providing a comparable service for returning war veterans at Bethany's Gait Ranch in Prescott's Williamson Valley.
