Saudi Arabia's government said Friday it may halt public beheadings because of the shortage of trained government swordsmen. Many people are unhappy about it. It could force Saudi Arabian television viewers to go back to watching Iranian soap operas.

President Obama will celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the White House with Ireland's U.S. ambassador. The president himself is Irish on his mother's side and Kenyan on his father's side. He won the last drinking marathon he entered in two hours and five minutes.

Mayor Bloomberg's ban on the sale of sugary drinks over 16 ounces was struck down by a judge. There's no way they could enforce it. It's not like the U.S. govenment has thousands of aircraft flying overhead recording everything you do on camera.

Pope Francis declared his ministry will be dedicated to the needy Thursday. He said he wants to keep helping those parts of the world where the food is rancid, the water is undrinkable and sewage non-existent. For years he served as chaplain on Carnival Cruises.

ESPN hired retired Baltimore Raven Ray Lewis to give NFL football commentary this fall. The network says they fully vetted his involvement in a parking lot manslaughter a dozen years ago. Network executives decided he's just guilty enough to draw huge ratings.
