Letter: Obama is governing 'Chicago-style'

On June 27, at 5:45 a.m., we felt a deep sadness and a cloud of anxiety. That's when we heard our President declaring Executive Privilege regarding "Fast and Furious" documents.

As recently as Friday, and a couple of times before through executive order, we heard him wield his power with in-your-face policy decisions that override the will of the majority, both the electorate and our elected legislative representatives. Clearly, it's his way or the highway, Congress notwithstanding.

Regardless of the electorate's political, partisan bent, we should all be alarmed over what might be the next shoe dropped by this president who seems arrogantly impervious to boundaries between our three branches of government. Using what are clearly Chicago-style strategies, and most likely aware of their questionable "legality," his policy changes cleverly set up his opponents for partisan criticism if they dare to go against his thumb-in-the-eye end runs.

Meanwhile these diversionary tactics keep us distracted from the REAL issues that he is avoiding - jobs, economy, national security.

We are waiting to see what our representatives - both parties - will do to stop this president's governing by fiat to push through his agenda.

Joe and Peg Rhodes

@ Things are getting serious- Did you hear the entire interview or just cherry pick what you wanted ? The interviewee made "conflicting statements" ( she is 95 yrs. old for God's sake). There is "secret coding" that "seems out of place" ( you probably need one of those decoder rings we got in cereal as kids). Zullo was a New Jersey cop for 5 minutes ( er I mean 5 years). Zullo and Corsi are writing books based on conspiracy theories and stand to directly profit from this "investigation". Get a life dude and try poking at why Bishop Mittens won't tell us about his finances. Now there's a real conspiracy !

Just a few things that came out of the July 17 Press Conference:

-The sheriff’s investigators have learned of a birth certificate coding system that indicates the White House document has been altered.

- An interview with the Hawaii official who allegedly signed the Obama document in 1961, U.K. Lee, provided further confirmation of the coding anomalies.

- Investigators were troubled to find key information missing on the verification document Hawaii provided to Arizona’s secretary of state in May.

- Hawaii’s deputy attorney general, Jill T. Nagamine, confirm the state has a birth document on file for Obama. But she would not confirm on the record that the White House document matched what was on file with the Hawaii Department of Health.

- The sheriff’s investigators interviewed three persons of interest who have provided additional information in the case.

Barry most certainly did run on his background as a scholar, college professor, and highly educated person. How else would we know about his many, many accomplishements (NOT!) had he not told us so in one form or another.

Hey, too bad nobody can remember him in college, as either a student or professor, and now Occidental College had to "revise" its files to show this great student and august professor, was actually on campus for over a year where they lost him some how. Like he was never really there. Kind of spooky don't you think??

You ...can twist and turn all you want to protect your bogus president, but the fact remains you don't even know his real name, and the truth is leaking out on this fraud.

Romney is real, your Messiah is as false a the guy running from a Medina posse to a Mecca hideout.

Obama Sr. was the academic star at Harvard, not Junior. Junior had ALL his records sealed from high school through college and law school, despite writing profusely about himself in his books. Any claims as to his academic performance are simply not backed by any evidence due to secrecy.

Indeed, despite being ELECTED President of the Law Review and even working as a law professor/instructor (part-time and untenured), he doesn't have a single scholarly publication in his name, just me.. me... me... memoirs. Doesn't that speak volumes!

What do you expect from Obama but to defend his "bro"? Obama was elected to be the first "blk president", nothing else and has no leadership skills. Nothing is being done about the deficit or real jobs (only government), and he's been campaigning since 2008. He was elected for "change" from Bush but still blames him, after 4 yrs, for his shortcomings. Just do your job and show your worthiness with actions. I hope November brings another change!.

Why not go back to his grade school transcripts?

Obama didn't run on his school grades. Romney IS running on his expertise in the business world. But won't (or can't) release any relevant information. Now even the upper echelon Republicans are questioning what is on those tax returns.

But luckily today is the day Arpaio is announcing his finding on Obama's "fraudalent" birth certificate.

We wait with bated breath.

Some Truth, back at you...
1.True Bush/Paulson initiated TARP, but no Republicans wanted to save the auto industry. Romney said to let it die. Remember? Republicans railed against TARP. Obama took the initiative and replaced the GM CEO and can take full credit for saving the industry and it's jobs.

2. Re the deficit, if you read my note, will reduce the deficit over next ten years. This is what Obmamacare will do.
3. The middle class tax cuts were real along with tax advantages for small businesses.
4. The taxes used to pay for Obamacare are on the following:
Cadallic healthcare plans owned only the wealthy
Fees on the healthcare industry including inssurance companies and hospitals who will benefit hugely from the new law
Taxes of .9% on earned income for those making over $250k /yr.
taxes of 1.9% on unearned income for those making over $250k/yr.

Tom Bowden, before I can take the rest of your position seriously I need some evidence of Obama's "wealth redistribution ideology", the central premise on which your statements rest. Everyone's got their own rhetoric, so I don't listen to inflammatory words anymore unless they are backed by actual statements or policy initiatives. Can you provide this?

Maybe if Obama had held even one private sector job in his life, and/or actually understood basic economics he wouldn't be such a disaster but I doubt it. I think his wealth redistribution ideology trumps everything else, certainly it trumps common sense. I'm shocked any one would consider voting for this guy again, but then I remember that if the average IQ is 100, about 1/2 the population has an IQ under 100. They know about as much about economics as Obama does.
The blind voting for the blind, and we wonder why it's a mess.

If that's the case, why is he STILL hiding his academic record year after year? President of the Law Review is an elected position, like Student Body President, so that just proves he has been honing his politicking skills for quite awhile, and is good at it!

Transferring in his Junior year from Occidental College to Columbia wiped out his previous GPA so he could start fresh and end up with a better GPA after two years so he could apply to Harvard. It's done all the time by students who do poorly on all the general education requirements, then do better when they only have their major courses left in their area of interest. Personally I want to know if he ever took Economics and how he did.

Oh ya, and don't forget the Legacy Program - his father went there. And Affirmative Action is a definite factor.

Hey, I voted and donated to the man, yet I can look at him objectively. Try it! There is a reason he won't let anyone see his grades. Even Dubya showed his, so why the secrecy?

To What is Obama Hiding? For one thing, Obama was the president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review. That should put to rest any question you might have about his academic record.

It is the Republicans who keep the focus on Fast and Furious and away from the REAL issues of jobs, etc, trying to place the blame on this President and the Attorney General for an operation that had its roots in Phoenix during the Bush administration. Eric Holder wasn't in on the planning or execution the operation, and the President has every right to protect his staff from the onslaught of Issa's partisan accusations.

Bob Lynne: Like so many liberals you are disingenuous.
1. TARP saved the auto industry, that was a Bush/Paulson Program. This can be verified by reading any one of several articles in the New York Times, hardly a conservative source.
2. Anybody that says Obama has reduced the debt is ignoring reality. Or, perhaps you are saying Obama ran a deficit in year one of $1.5T, and in year 2 of $1.4T and therefore he reduced the deficit by $100B. Yeah, after increasing it by an average of $1T per year, he reduced it one year by $143B. Forgive me if I call that the nonsense it is.
3. Obamacare increases or adds 21 different taxes, many of which will hit the middle class(maybe you should read the 2700 pages).
4. Bush's policies ended the war in Iraq, which was over in any meaningful way when Obama took office. Obama had little or nothing to do with it. On the other hand, Gitmo is still open and Obama has made an utter mess of the war in Afghanistan.

You, sir, are wrong. Once Romney made the statement that we should elect him because of his business background, it was no longer private. We have every right to know what that business background entailed. That also includes his income tax returns because that is part of his business background. If he is unwilling to let us inspect his background, he ought to get out of the race, or at least run on some other basis than his "business" background. And as for Obama, we all know what he has been doing with our tax money. And, by the way, he released his personal tax returns going back to 2000.
