Letter: Media blatantly omits, skews facts

For whatever reason, ideas and actions once thought to be unthinkable in our society are now not only thinkable but are being touted and acted upon.

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry stated last week in a promo for the cable network that Americans must "break through the idea that kids belong to their parents," and recognize that "kids belong to whole communities." Leaders such as Stalin, Hitler and Mao used this idea with great success in the creation of their evil societies.

Subtle attacks on the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are taking place in our public (government-run) schools. A fourth-grade teacher in Florida had children write in crayon, "I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure" as part of a "civics" class.

The media in our country have become so partisan that there are blackouts (with few exceptions) on news events that put unflattering attention on our current administration (the Benghazi attack and Fast & Furious) or abortion (Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist on trial for murdering seven babies). I could give more examples but this letter would become a thesis. An active and investigative media has been an American strength but is now a new danger.

As a veteran and citizen, I am concerned about the future of our republic and that of my children and grandchildren. I hope others are concerned as well.

Daniel Grayson

@The Media: Which news outlets are you reading? I read a whole bunch of them today. Just about all of them spent a lot of words talking about possible Jihadist motivations. Take the blinders off and you'll see. At least one source dedicated an entire article to it.

It seems the Boston bomber was an Obama supporter.
How deep will the liberals try to bury this inconvenient truth?

Article comment by: Yeah, Heaven forbid the media tell the truth for a change

To "To the Media !!": So it is ok for MSNBC to speculate on Monday that the bomber was affiliated with the Tea Party, but the media today should not reveal what they know to be true about the bombers. Not hard to figure out your political orientation is it? The vast majority of terrorist attacks worldwide over the past 10 years have been committed by Muslim extremists. That's just the simple truth. Should we all ignore it to make you feel a bit better?

I undersand why the media is so careful. It's because the average american can not be trusted with that kind of information. The media knows the nature of the American hate machine. It can ramp up in a second and Americans as a people are too driven by "what they heard". Hate radio often drives people to do something they normally would not do and would normally be critical of. Look at these "annonymous comments that are often shocking in their content".

I have listened to the local radio stations and their own push to identify this crime with Muslims. Just not necessary.

I see the media and president as being responsible. Unfortunately, those actions are a consequence of who we are as a people and a nation. Ignorant and violent.

Can't help noticing how most of the media, by far, cannot bring themselves to discuss the fact the bombers are Muslim. Like if they avoid it, that will just go away. The White House and Democrats will, no doubt, continue to do the same. Pathetic, dishonest and predictable.

Article comment by: A few in the media see Obama clearly

Very few, but a few. He was continually dishonest when campaigning, and therefore (and predictably, if you think about it) lacks any credibility on key issues.
One example: A self described strong "2nd Amendment supporter" when asking for votes becomes an impassioned gun grabber after being elected for a last term. Just one example of many.

Daniel is correct and any honest person will admit. For example, the truth behind the recent Senate Vote on gun controls is ignored by 90% of the media that instead publishes or passes along the disingenuous nonsense from Obama and his minions:

Just a guess, but less than a thousand hits, and most of those were more than likely from the same three or four easily dismissed, I'd ay most of Prescott is doing just fine.

I think what we really need to be concerned about, is there are people like Mr. Grayson who believe this stuff, and use public newspapers as forums for their paranoia.
Will the thinking people please stand up?

One more thing for the real Si Si. Socialism means that capitalists are not allowed to own businesses. Only the state can do that. Why would media companies try to hang themselves like that. It makes no sense.

Comments like yours only expose your ignorance and dilute any argument you are attempting to make. Stop trying to shout out your frustration by making ill informed remarks, take a seat and let those with the knowledge, do the talking.
Hitler was NOT a socialist? Yes, SOCIALIST was a word in the political party he founded, but he was a Fascist.

I have no knowledge of Henry Ford being a socialist. Yes he did pay his workers enough money so they could afford a to pay for a Ford auto, as any CAPITALIST might, but I do not believe Henry Ford was prone to establish a UAW local within his factories.

Please folks please have a grasp of the differences between Socialism and Nationalism. Hitler was a Nationalist, or Fascist while Mao and Stalin were Socialist. Their ideologies are on two different ends of the political spectrum.
Capitalism, Fascism, Socialism are really big words and you and others seem to interchange them to fit the rant of the moment.
Again, take a seat and leave the debate to those with knowledge. The day of the TEAPARTY rants is over.

Working together, compromise and diversified thought are the only ways to get things done. The Blair Bread Wagon has left the building.

So let me see f I can follow your logic, Danny Boy. You claim tat there was a blackout on Fast and Furious. Hmmm. I seem to remember that it was all over the media. You claim there was a blackout on Benghazi. Seems to me every media outlet covered it to such a great extent we even had live coverage of Hillary's testimony in front of Congress. It was everywhere and showed that there was no there, there. And the abortion doctor is charged with murder and is on trial. What would you recommend as an alternative to charging him with murder and putting him on trial?
Further, there is no attack on our Constitution or our Bill of Rights in public schools. You got no facts! It's all in your head.
How about keeping it there!

The media is not to be trusted. That was blown a LONG time ago. The media is now agenda driven drivel. The media does NOT cover reality that does not conform to its agenda.
Why was the D.C. Roe v Wade march in Jan of 25,000 NOT covered but a march against the 2nd Amendment where less than 10,000 was covered by all the news shows. We are winning the culture war without the media which is the culture's lap dog.

Speaking of "skewed and overblown" if the New York Times headlined their entire front page "THE END IS NEAR" the goofball liberals would believe it cause it came from the media.

BUT... if the headline were actually true, they would all jump in their Prius' and try to outrun it.

Yes folks, the mentality of the leftists.

Ooops, I made a mistake, I apologize to the thoughtful, and correct, Liberal comments made below. I actually meant to say, 'Conservatives', and 'Conservativism' instead of Liberals and Liberalism in my post. My bad.

I always get a chuckle from those who downplay Fox News. For not watching it, you seem to know a lot about it. So come on now, you're doing the same thing you accuse conservatives of . . . you're believing what you want to believe, and hearing what you want to hear, from a source in which you think we should all believe. I'll do my own thinking, thanks.

The liberals around here routinely demonstrate their emotional frailty and intellectual weakness. Today they are right on cue, showing us that they have no substance, fact nor intelligent thoughts with which to refute the letter writer. Angry, mocking, name-calling nonsense is all the useful idiots can come up with. Liberalism is indeed a mental disorder and we see the proof every day.

Article comment by: Si!Se! me Puede @ Tom Von Deck: Capitalist is not capitalism

Tom, you said: "I've always wondered how capitalist corporations can possibly be accused of having "socialist agendas".

Well, sir, it's easy. Nobody ever said 'capitalists' don't like power and money, nor is it true 'corporations' don't function with a socialistic agenda to keep themselves in a position of influence.

Which is why large and powerful corporations are always building a school with money earned from government tax breaks, in a joint-venture to disguise the profits from the trash and sewage they just buried a few miles a way, and things like that. Or, like giving campaign contributions (i.e. bribes) to BOTH sides of a political campaign or other elected officials in order to keep the politician dependent on the waterhole they built and maintain.

Henry Ford, for instance, became at once a huge capitalist, and a raging socialist, simply because it was good business. Same with Hitler, China, Thomas Edison, Westinghouse, and every other totalitarian manifestation of greed whether it is corporate or personal.

There is big profit to be made 'helping' the poor with socialist policies and government programs with unlimited funding.

The activity does not even need to be successful, only profitable.

Surly you are referring to FAUX NEWS. Even their own management is coming down on the newscasters! A leaked memo: "That means we will start by going to air with only the most essential, basic, and manageable elements. To share a key quote from today's meeting: "It is more important to get it right, than it is to get it on." Unfortunately they still are having a bit of a problem. A recent news cast states that the FBI has arrested the Boston Marathon bomber. Then after the FBI jumps on their case, has to walk it back as a mistake. According to a Huffington Post survey show that Fox News viewers are the most mis-informed of all when taking a test regarding current events! So between Rush Limbaugh and his ilk, and Faux News it is no wonder that a large segment of our population develop slack jaws and vacuous stares!

When people do not get news they want instead of the truth they call it "the liberal media". The news is slanted right in the first place. Rush and Fox spew enough hateful lies for us all. Just go to the rip-off report online and see how the conservatives have lied by omission over and over. You are not in the majority of Veterans with your political views. Obama wants to lower the debt on the backs of Disabled Veterans like me. We need a third political party that is an honest one. The two we have are the same.
