Letter to the Editor: Michael Brown case
I see the Congressional Black Caucus is in lock-step with Obama, Holder, Jesse Jackson, and that race baiting pillar of integrity Al Sharpton in calling the Grand Jury's decision in the Michael Brown case a "miscarriage of justice" and "unacceptable."

Letter to the Editor: Western Heritage thanks
The Prescott Western Heritage Foundation, Inc., would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for their support of our very successful second annual Western Heritage Recognition Dinner and Concert held on Nov. 15 in the Hotel St. Michael's Ballroom.

Letter to the Editor: National debt
Beware of those trying to rewrite history spewing false partisan rhetoric that originates from non-credible sources. Recent examples are letters by Dick Smith and Jerry Fowler.
Monday, December 15, 2014

Letter to the Editor: Airport runway
I recently heard that the proposed extension of the runway, moving the tower and constructing a new terminal at the airport (which I think are all not needed in Prescott) would cost around $100 million.

Letter to the Editor: Training milestone
We are so very grateful to the tri-city area for opening its arms to us for CPR/AED and First Aid training. On Nov. 25, 2014, we trained our 2000th student, Jill Moore, who works for the Yavapai Juvenile Detention Center.

Letter to the editor: A vet says thank you
I was given an article from your paper that reads "Legion post raises 4k for vet in need."
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Letter to the Editor: Unemployment
The Administration bragged about creating 321,000 new jobs during the month of November and that the unemployment rate is continuing to fall. This sounds good until we find out that during the last week of November, 297,000 people lost their jobs and collected unemployment for the first time.

Letter to the editor: Thank you
Hi there, my name is Joanna Sweeney, aka Mama Sweeney. Saturday, Dec. 6, we had our annual special-needs Christmas celebration. It was a special time that would not have happened without the love and support of our Prescott community.

Rants & Raves
Got something on your mind? Tell us about it in 40 words or less.
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Letter to the editor: Politics
In response to Douglas Iverson's Nov. 28 letter, "Use your vote wisely next time," the American people finally woke up and made their voice heard because of the lies perpetrated on us by Obama and his administration for the past six years.
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Letter to the editor: Consideration
This is a response to a letter published on Nov. 27 from Mary Summers of Prescott titled "Thank you for assuming incorrectly."
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Letter to the editor: Energy
The Courier publishes a wide range of opinions, both local and national.
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Letter to the editor: Thank you
This letter is just a simple but sincere thank-you for all the Daily Courier does for our community, especially during the holidays.
Friday, December 12, 2014

Letter to the editor: Funding
Prescott is a community in which people care for each other, as seen in the outpouring of concern for the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots' families, and the people of Yarnell.
Friday, December 12, 2014

Letter to the editor: Self-defense
The headlines have read "Officer kills unarmed man." First, let me say that the death of Mr. Brown was tragic as a mother has lost a son, and police officer's life has changed forever.
Friday, December 12, 2014

Letter to the editor: Gosar
Our congressman Paul Gosar could not wait for President Obama's speech on immigration to be over before lashing out in a degrading diatribe against the president and attacking the dignity of undocumented immigrants.
Thursday, December 11, 2014

Letter to the Editor: Thank you
This Thanksgiving my wife and I have a special Thank You to Lifeline Ambulance Service and the fine staff at YRMC West.
Thursday, December 11, 2014

Letter: Immigration reform
I am so proud of our president taking on immigration reform, exercising his powers to start the ball rolling.
Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Letter: Evolution
A recent proselytizing letter by David McNabb was fascinating.
Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Letter: Thanks
I want to thank the nice young man who found my nephew's phone at Marine and Willis and brought it to the house.
Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Letter to the editor: Immigration
Most have no qualms about 5 million illegals being able to stay in the U.S. (racially speaking of course).
Tuesday, December 09, 2014

Letter to the editor: Contest
On Nov. 8, the Prescott Civil Air Patrol Squadron 206, located on the Prescott Love Field airport, held both an open house and a paper airplane distance flying contest for youth 12 to 18 years old.
Tuesday, December 09, 2014

Letter to the editor: Salaries
I read in the newspaper just the other day where a young man signed a contract that would pay him $385 million and all he had to do was use a piece of wood (that costs about $20) to hit a ball of string wrapped in leather (that costs about $10) and then run down a dirt path 90 feet to touch a bag made of canvas to the screams of joy and excitement from a crowd of thousands.

Letter: Changing zoning in area fails test of logic, 'why?'
Briana Lonas of the Prescott Valley Tribune has written several informative articles with regard to many concerns expressed by over 500 Prescott Golf and Country Club (PGCC) residents who own property in and around the golf course.
Monday, December 08, 2014

Letter: Creationists appear to deny 'fundamental' laws
In a letter titled "To deny science of creation buys into religion of evolution," writer David McNabb claims those who reject creationism must deny "the four most accepted laws in science."
Monday, December 08, 2014

Letter: Another look at the Republican win
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Letter: Thank you for the donations
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Letter: Please do not cut down the trees
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Letter: Jails full because of frivolous convictions
I'm glad to see the jail tax was shot down. One reason the jails are so crowed is because police and judges are sending people to jail over frivolous and stupid things.
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Letter: Election's losers exceed winners
It is good after each election to assess what was won and what was lost. Nov. 4 was a big win for Arizona's Team Red.
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Letter: Magazine cover array spans decades, dollars
Recently I had the pleasure of reading the December 2014 issue of Arizona Highways Magazine, which was a review of about 70 years of previous Christmas editions of the magazine.
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Letter: Sadly, Prescott favored the jail tax, but not its schools
I read in the paper that "most of Prescott supported an increase in the county jail sales tax." The article in the paper today stood in stark contrast to the one above it detailing the Prescott Unified School District budget cuts that will, it seems, lead to the closure of schools.
Friday, December 05, 2014

Letter: Case opposing jail district sales tax was misleading
Further to Mr. John Krizek's take on David Stringer's insults to our county supervisors, and his misleading distortions of the true facts regarding the necessity of a jail district sales tax hike; just consider, after all, that for the past 25 years Stringer has been a criminal defense attorney who has learned all the tricks of the trade to sway a jury to win his case by any means available to him.
Friday, December 05, 2014

Letter: Thank you - PV's Reading Railroad is wonderful
It's time to say thank you to the library and the friends of the library for creating and running the Reading Railroad. This is a program to help those who cannot get around in the library.
Friday, December 05, 2014

Letter: Leg traps have no place in our evolved society
When a friend's dog got his leg caught in a foothold trap recently, it came to me that our lovely state is in bad need to come up to the 21st century and outlaw this brutal relic of a brutal past.
Friday, December 05, 2014

Letter: Biased columnist slants, omits facts
Having been a subscriber to The Daily Courier for 16 years, I am shocked and concerned over the biased articles in the Opinions section by Toni Denis. Her opinions are just that: opinions.
Thursday, December 04, 2014

Letter: District versus charter schools: they are different, but both are public
In her column recently, Toni Denis gave us a bunch of falsehoods and half-truths.
Wednesday, December 03, 2014

Letter: Standing tall in 'good ole territorial days' very much the same as today
John Krizek's letter to the editor in the Nov. 16 Daily Courier is yet another reminder of the politics of vengeance that, sadly, have permeated the landscape of Yavapai County for more than a century.
Wednesday, December 03, 2014

Letter: State lawmakers, influencers need to help, not hurt public education
The Arizona Legislature ignored the voters' wishes in 2000 to use the 0.6 percent sales tax increase for education, and now they are ignoring the law that requires inflationary increases to education funding.
Tuesday, December 02, 2014

Letter: We're facing 'Interstellar' problems; what are we teaching students today?
Incredible! On the front page of the Courier, Nov. 17, you published four comments about space exploration, with all of the interviewees saying we shouldn't spend money on it.
Tuesday, December 02, 2014

Letter: We must take care with what we teach our children; safety depends upon it
Once again, a 16-year-old driving late at night - this one on an interstate from Texas to Florida - has led to a deadly accident.
Tuesday, December 02, 2014

We would like to thank the Daily Courier and its staff for allowing our homeschool group to visit the printing facility this past Wednesday.
Monday, December 01, 2014

Letter: We need alternative to failed drug policies
In response to the article quoting Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk's statements regarding the upcoming Arizona 2016 marijuana legalization initiative, I submit the following.
Monday, December 01, 2014

Letter: Obama doing well on deficit, economy
Tom Gatchell, in his letter on Sunday Nov. 16, cites many numbers that, out of context, make President Obama look less than spectacular. However, let me put them in context.
Sunday, November 30, 2014

Letter: Veterans should always be honored
Regarding David and Connie Parker's Nov. 19 letter, "Veterans aren't the only heroes." I served in the USAF 1961-65 or would have been drafted without choice into the U.S. Army. I am not a combat veteran but served in support of those who were.

Sunday, November 30, 2014

Letter: Save money, look to your refrigerator
Save money on your utility bill. Refrigerators can account for 20 percent of your utility bill. The older the refrigerator, the more it uses.
Sunday, November 30, 2014

Letter: We have more to fear than Ebola, ISIS or rampages
One might conclude that we are most threatened by Ebola virus, Islamic State warriors (ISIS) and madmen with assault weapons. Well, there is good news to report: These terrifying threats have actually resulted in very few American deaths this year.
Saturday, November 29, 2014

Letter: Englarged Whole Foods Market a winner
What a pleasure to shop in the Whole Foods Market! With the enlarged selection of gluten free, nut free, dairy and soy free foods; it is an easy way to make selections for many eating variations.
