Letter: Bully tactics lost election for GOP

You see ads on TV about bullies. You hear people and children talk about their experiences on being bullied. The Republicans need to see these ads. Hear these people.

I have been bullied. By Republicans. They are a group of angry white extremists.

One Republican lady bullied me at my hairdresser, saying if she saw me in a dark alley, she would cut off all my hair. This women was in her 70s!

It is the Republicans who do not want a balanced United States government. They want a dictatorship. They are the bullies of the playground; this is why they lost the presidential election. They are the children who don't like to lose, who don't play nice, who are rude and mean and getting angrier and meaner by the day.

It is time for the Republicans to step back and look at their actions. I find them to be the most greedy and most obnoxious.

Debra Kaukol

Well, the Democrats seem to have a few more than their share of bullies...

Worse, they're in power.

@Debra-stop your whining. For every story of "bullying" from the right, I could tell you two about the left. Your "fuhrer" won re-election, so when are you lefties going to stop with your ignorant comments.

@Hooty Hoo- It really makes you wonder what must have taken place togive us those numbers. I mean, does anyone ever get 95%, or even 72%, of the white vote? Someone must have REALLY alienated those groups.

@Debra, your column only needs to remove the Republican name and put in the Democrats. This is how Obama got re-elected. Any threats against his policies is considered terrorism but it's OK to burn our flag and bash Bush. Allowing illegals free drivers licenses, handouts to those who don't want to work, not balancing a budget for four years, handing his job to others to do while he's vacationing, etc. is a president who has NO leadership skills. Using the "racist" word over and over by the liberal stations if Obama wasn't re-elected and even Eric Holder used it in his F&F scandal. Get real, you mean the Democrats, NOT the Republicans.

Numbers don't lie. Obama got 93% of the black vote (down from 95% in 2008, wonder why that happened?) and 72% of the hispanic vote. And that's why he won plain and simple. White people are not where it's at in a presidential election. The percent of whites voting will go down from now on.

To: "And Rather Rude, Too", oh yeah, you were going to "snap him in two" alright. Just like a bellowing, blowhard liberal. Talking tough about the idea of beating up an elderly person. Not to mention that YOU started the trouble by making loud, antagonistic comments about Limbaugh. Then, like a typical idiot, gets all mad when someone dares challenge the leftist mantra. Yeah, no "bullies" in the Democrat party. Oh noooooo. Just start trouble with elderly people so you can act all tough. Lucky there wasn't some able bodied person there to show you who the "pencil neck" truly was.

How typical of the right wing. Another conspiracy theory. They didn't win because they didn't want to, for reasons unknown. Ha.

Another silly letter from a 16 year old expert? I will forward this letter to the RNC so they can soak in your keen analysis and respond accordingly. If only we could all think like the Liberals...

Standby for the bully-in-chief to show his real self since he will never stand for reelection.

The looks on everyone's face in the fourth year when he raises taxes on the middle class, will be priceless.

Article comment by: Excellent Letter

As others have stated, the vitriolic response to this letter more than proves the point. Here's the thing. Not all Republicans are bullies, it's just that the party is currently under siege by it's loudest most vitriolic minority and seems at a loss as to how to shed that vocal, offensive minority. Till (if?) it does it is in jeopardy of relagating itself to extinction. Parties have gone extinct in this country before and for exactly the same reasons. I'm curious to see what Phoenix arrises from the ashes of the Republican party, so look on the bright side. As usual, we have interesting times ahead of us.

Don't agree with you, I must admit that the right wingers posting in response to your letter seem to be proving your point. It is important to acknowledge that the responders represent only themselves and not the whole Republican Party. The question is, how long before mainstream republicans shed themselves of these bullying extremists and return to the republican values of old? If they never do, they won their last national election in 2004.

There are bad Republicans and democrats. You are living in a child like world to think the Republicans are the only bad people in the world. Perhaps you need to grow up?

Boy Debra - you hit the nail on the head with this one. We had a bumper sticker on our vehicle for our current/future Pres and were subject to the one finger point, a person pushing off their propaganda against our choice at the gas station and a card left on our vehicle at the grocery store among other choice words and notes. Finally we removed our bumper sticker when the election was over. Really, really sore losers.

@ J Madison... takes one to know one huh? Leftists or rightist you guys are all the same you obviously fool yourself a lot but you can't fool me.

The new Republican party lost its conservative leanings long ago. They are run by fake conservatives. These new guys and their angry scared old white guys have no clue whatsoever what conservatism is - the old guys probably did once, but then they got greedy and ripe for manipulation. Many will never know it... played for fools by fake conservatives. Wake up boys - you don't have to be a liberal but the faking of conservatism has to be exposed. You old guys who can remember what conservative used to mean are capable of doing it, just need to use your heads a little. Feel free to think again! Forget the liberals for a minute, just get your conservative values out and expose the fakers that have taken over you and your new faker party.

Article comment by: Racist Tactics Win

I disagree with Debra's comments and feel that the "Racist" tactics from the liberals WON Obama's re-election. I heard so much "racist this and racist that" from the left, getting their "first black president" re-elected entirely on racists comments. Eric Holder even used racism to excuse his Fast and Furious screw-up. See, both sides can be accused of the same thing, Debra.

Article comment by: Another Double Standard

@Debra-I can't help but feel sorry for your ignorance. When I listented to MSNBC during the campaign, I hear more racists comments from Al Sharpton than I ever want to heear. The Black Panthers who make racial threats against white babies, etc. is considered expressing their 1st amendment, but when whites do the same it's considered "racists". Please don't be so blind or deaf to the left-side of politics.

Article comment by: I Don't Agree

I have been both a Republican and after that a Democrat. I walked/ran away from both parties and am now an Independent.

I found name calling and a total disconnect in both parties. Just read the repetitive, predictable venemous letters here locally in the Courier.

I split from the Republicans because I found them mired in a lifestyle from at least 50 years ago. By repeatedly lying about the candidates of the opposing side (see Lee Atwater, Rush Limbaugh, birthers, et al) they appeared to me to be delusional beyond repair and actually insulted my intelligence.

The Democrats, although sometimes on an equal footing, seemed more open to engage the new constituents (women, youth, non-whites, etc.) thus promoting a more open and less religiously based field.

After the last election there were many Republicans who finally realized that if they remained a party of "old white guys", they would continue to lose elections.

I still feel more comfortable with removing myself from all the nonsense of both parties and labeling myself an Independent.

Debra, not all Republicans are bad. Some do care about our country and preserving our values of freedom and liberty. But they are in a minority in their own party.

We'd all be better off if moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats all registered Independent. The result would be that both parties would become irrelevant compared to the moderate Independent "party".

Article comment by: And Rather Rude, Too

I doubt I will ever forget being called a (very obscene name) by a very old pencil-necked cowboy (he had the hat, anyway) after I called Rush Limbaugh what he is-- a multi-millionaire, rabble-rousing, pill-popping, Vietnam War draft-dodger. I chose to laugh at his face rather snap him in two. Finding Rush indefensible, he chose to attack me.
And then there was the old lady at the cc pool who called Obama "Evil"---as in Beezlebub/the anti-Christ. Obama, the father of a spectacular family. I'm sure she thought Obama was a Muslim from Kenya sent by the "Devil" himself or some evil place like France. I could go on, but one hears and reads so much crazy stuff around here---unlike any other place I have lived, including a few of the richest towns in the USA. Is it the water here? Or is it the many minerals in the air?
