Canton Dragon to open in former Asian Buffet site

The Canton Dragon Chinese Cuisine restaurant, in business in Prescott for 17 years, plans to open a new location in a vacant restaurant building in Prescott Valley.

The new restaurant will be an expansion, manager Lisa Li Chang Ma said. However, she could not provide a date when the Canton Dragon will open at 7305 E. Pav Way.

Ma also applied to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses & Control for a liquor license. The request appeared on the consent agenda for the Prescott Valley Town Council Thursday.

She said the new location has seating for about 150 people, in contrast to the capacity for 90 to 100 people at the restaurant in a shopping center on North Montezuma Street in Prescott.

The building formerly housed Johnny Carinos and Asian Buffet restaurants.

Just want Pee-Vee doesn't need - another corporate chain restaurant.

No matter how "niche" or "trendy".

Welcome Canton Dragon - I've always enjoyed your Prescott location. Now I don't have to drive as far and my money stays REALLY local.

Had supper there Tuesday night and the service was great. The wait staff was friendly and helpful as well. We had the Combination platter and it was excellent. I can't wait to go back.

Pei Wei is my favorite Asian food restaurant and with that space, I hope they are considering that business model and hopefully adapt their menu. While it may be among the best Prescott offers, their food could stand some innovation and I would be a frequent patron if they came close to offering the food quality I get when I go to Pei Wei.

Good food but prices have gotten out of hand. Hopefully they will return to the reasonable area. Service is top notch!
