Fresh off their biggest offensive outburst in more than three years, the Arizona Sundogs added a new forward to the mix on Thursday.

The team announced the acquisition of forward Jeff Pierce from the Missouri Mavericks. In 21 games with the Mavericks this season, the 29-year-old Troy, Mich., native has seven goals and 12 assists, along with a plus-minus rating of 6.

The Sundogs are coming off a home series with Bloomington in which they won two of three games. Their last outing was an 8-2 victory on Monday night, which featured the most single-game goals by an Arizona team since Nov. 9, 2009.

Pierce spent three seasons from 2008-11 with the Odessa Jackalopes, a former CHL team. He tallied 168 points in 193 games and was consistently ranked among the teams top six scorers, pushing the team to the CHL playoffs all three seasons. During the 2009-10 playoffs, Pierce racked up 20 points in 13 postseason games.

In 2011-12 he joined the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in the United Kingdom. He collected 33 goals and 34 assists in 53 games.

Pierce spent his collegiate years playing for Western Michigan University and scored 71 points in 127 games.

The Sundogs pick up their series with Bloomington this week as action shifts to Illinois for games Friday and Saturday.
