11/26/2012 11:03:00 PM Clifford named college's athletics director

Brad Clifford got a promotion on Monday afternoon.
Effective Saturday, Dec. 1, he will assume the duties of Yavapai College's director of athletics, he confirmed.
"I've come full circle," he said. "I am excited about the opportunity."
Clifford, who has been at the college since 1987 as a student, assistant coach, head coach, and most recently as pool coordinator and assistant AD, will take over for Scott Farnsworth, who will focus on his other job of dean of Health and Sciences.
"I don't know that much will change," Clifford said. "I want to be there for the coaches ... (and help) facilitate what they're doing and help them continue in their winning ways."
The change is a result of the continued assessment of college reorganization that started in spring 2011, the college's Facebook page stated.
"(Scott's) been spread quite thin in his duties. ... He has done a great job," Clifford said. "I am thankful for the opportunity."
Clifford, who coached men's and women's basketball prior to the college shutting those programs down because of finances, said he is not sure a plan exists to bring them back. "I know there's interest in the community and, certainly, in the college community. Hopefully that opportunity will present itself."
