Lots of offense, a shutout at home, power play goals, and contributions from Kyle Hood. It was like old times at Tim's Toyota Center Wednesday night.

The Arizona Sundogs treated a Halloween night crowd of 2,017 to the team's most complete effort of the young season in a 4-0 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas.

Hood, a 28-year-old defenseman out of Osoyoos, British Columbia, first joined the Sundogs' playoff roster during their CHL championship run of 2007-08, when he contributed six points in 16 postseason games. He would play the next four seasons in Prescott Valley where he tallied 205 points in 253 career games with the Sundogs, including leading the club in scoring for two consecutive seasons, before skating with the Colorado Eagles in the ECHL last year.

Hood officially re-signed with the Sundogs on Wednesday, and was on the ice contributing two assists on Arizona's four goals.

He picked a good night to return to the mix.

First-year Sundog Jake Hauswirth, a forward who skated with Rio Grande Valley last season, opened the scoring three minutes into the game off helpers from Hood and Jason Morgan, to stake the Sundogs to a 1-0 lead after one period.

Arizona's Kyle Schussler turned assists from David Schlemko and Chad Nehring into another goal four minutes after the first intermission. Toward the end of the second period, Mario Larocque cashed in one of the Sundogs' two power play goals on the night to widen the margin to 3-0 by the second intermission.

In the third period, forward Don Maloney Jr. capped the scoring by lighting the lamp 8:50 in to seal Arizona's second win of the young season, and first shutout. The team's four goals is a season high.

Goaltender David Brown stopped all 29 shots sent his way in 60 minutes.

As a team, the Sundogs converted two of five power play opportunities, and kept Fort Worth scoreless in the Brahmas' five chances.

Arizona looks for its first winning streak of the season with a two-game series on the road against the Rapid City Rush Friday and Saturday.

The team returns home for a three-game set against the expansion Denver Cutthroats starting Nov. 7.

People in the Tri-City area need to pack the arena and support the Sundogs. This is a total bang for the buck and very good entertainment. A drastic improvment over the past couple of years. People dont know what they are missing. Food and beer prices are down and this has the making of a good season. Hockey in PV and no NHL makes it even better...Come check it out...

What a breath of fresh air. It was very entertaining last night to watch this team put on a clinic. It would not have been so noteworthy if the Brahmas were not a good team. They are but the Dogs were just that much better. They play a truly stifling defense and have some real team players up front. Hockey is back in PV. What I like the most is that they have secured points in 4 out of the five games. The season is young, which is great becasue they truly imporve every game.

Go Dogs!!
