The First Annual Choose Your Favorite Charity Golf Tournament is sponsored by the Prescott Evening Lions Club and Foundation. Winners will receive a contribution in their name to the Qualifying Charity of their choice. The tournament will be held Oct. 27 on the South Course of Antelope Hills Golf Complex. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and action starts at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $50 per golfer and a minimum of $50 designated contribution allocated to a local charity of the golfer's choice. Your contribution will qualify for the State of Arizona's Working Poor Tax Credit. For qualifying individuals this credit is a dollar for dollar tax credit against your Arizona Income Taxes and can be taken in addition to the School Tax Credit and private school tuition credit. Priority charities have been established for non designated contributions. Local merchants will sponsor tee boxes and greens. Additional merchants will provide merchandise to auction after the tournament. All proceeds of the auction shall be distributed to local charities and will remain in the community.

Prescott Elks Lodge #330 will conduct its annual Soccer Shoot on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Yavapai College baseball field on the Prescott campus. Boys and girls ages 13 and under are eligible to participate in this free event, sponsored by the Yavapai College Soccer Program. Registration with parental consent is required. This event supports the Elks Grand Lodge Youth Activity and Drug Awareness Programs and only requires approximately 15 minutes of your time. Participants eligible to advance to the district shoot in Winslow and from there to the state competition in Tempe will be notified. In addition the Yavapai College Soccer Team Members will be on hand to assist. Bring the whole family for a fun filled activity and meet the team. All interested in signing up to play horseshoes in the Mile High Horseshoe Club Thursday nights should contact Cal Cordes at 928-533-6519 or 928-445-2859. The league started Aug. 2, at Watson Lake in Prescott, but players are still welcome to sign up. Cost is $2 per night.


The Pincurlers Bowling League will hold their annual meeting for past and future bowlers at Plaza Bowl at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. Bowling starts Aug. 22 at 9:30 a.m. If interested in joining this league of three women's teams, call league secretary Jo Schreiber at 776-7216.


Registration for Big Bug Youth Football and Cheer for kids ages 5-14 for the Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer and Cordes Junction areas should contact Russ Dodge at 928-848-1566 or Christina Hernandez at 928-379-1097. Registration will be available at Mayer Elementary School Wednesday, Aug. 8, starting at 6 p.m.


The 10th annual Tour De PeeVee 2-mile Fun Walk, 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon runs are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22. All proceeds from the event benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central AZ. Entry fees before Sept. 3 are $40 for the Half Marathon, and $30 for the 5K, 10K and 2-mile Fun Walk. After Sept. 3, the cost goes up $5 per event. The Chuck & Keith and Ben Jones Open Co-ed

Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will be held Aug. 11-12 at Pioneer Park in Prescott. The entry fee is $225 per team and the deadline for registration is Wednesday, Aug. 1. Please contact Kathy Jones at 830-4458 or at 445-8790.


Members of the 2012 Yavapai College Soccer Team, in conjunction with Century 21-Arizona West, will conduct two free youth soccer clinics-Friday, August 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott and Saturday, August 11 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley. Boys and girls ages 5-16 are eligible to participate. No registration is required. If possible, participants should bring their own soccer ball. In addition, a coach's clinic will take place in conjunction with the player's clinic. All participants will receive a special soccer souvenir gift from Century 21-Arizona West. Come meet the 2012 Soccer Team Members prior to their season opener!


The StoneRidge women's golf league would like to invite all women golfers to join its Tuesday morning league. Start time based on the time of the year and the cost of membership is $5 annually. League play is USGA rules and regulations. StoneRidge also offers computerized handicap calculation, which is $30 annually. Members may also join the Northern Arizona Women's Golf Association for an annual fee of $5. For more information, call the pro shop at 928-772-6500.
