Deadlocked in a scoreless tie for most of the match, Mingus Union scored with less than three minutes to go in regulation and held on for a win over Prescott in Cottonwood.

PHS coach Carly Laipple said the Badgers were down a handful of players, and the lack of subs took a toll in the second half.

Yavapai Soccer Club teams win medals at Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tourney
YAVAPAI SOCCER CLUB SELECT teams were awarded four medals at the recent Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tournament. All four teams participating in the tournament placed in this 192-team tournament held at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix. The U13 Boys team placed first after a 3-0 win over BSA Benfica U13 Eagles in their championship match. A 5-2 loss to Arizona United SC 05 Boys granted Yavapai Roughriders U10 Boys the second place finish.

Chino Valley's record dropped to 2-2 in power-point games after this 27-point loss to Sedona Red Rock Wednesday night at home.

The Cougars struggled mightily from the field, converting just 5-of-40 attempts, coach Rick Bradshaw said. Shelby Shelton accounted for six of Chino's 13 points for the game.

Notre Dame blanks Prescott girls' soccer
On Tuesday, Notre Dame Prep shut out Prescott at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University soccer field in Prescott.

Notre Dame, consistently one of the best programs in the state and a Division 2 quarterfinalist last winter, grabbed a 3-0 lead at halftime and held onto it in the final half for the victory.
