Obituary: David H. Palmer Jr.
David H. Palmer Jr.
David H. Palmer Jr.

David H. Palmer Jr. passed away on April 4, 2014. He was born Nov. 13, 1948, in Prescott, Ariz., the son of the late David Palmer Sr. and Grace Palmer.

David has been a life-long resident of Prescott. He was a dedicated athlete, running for most of his life competitively and for fun. During his life, he was a writer, a poet, and a journalist before receiving his J.D. in 1981 from the University of Arizona. He had a private law practice for many years in Prescott. However, his true passion was the outdoors. David traveled across the southwest to raft down various rivers including the Colorado, the San Juan and the Verde rivers.

David is survived by his mother Grace Palmer; sons Jordan and Hayden; sisters Beth Furstenthal and Ann Olsen; brother Mike Palmer; and girlfriend Maria Adler.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Unity Church of Prescott. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Yavapai Humane Society, 1625 Sundog Ranch Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Private services will take place at a later date.

I graduated with Dave from Prescott High School with the class of '67. The services last Saturday for Dave were wonderful. Jordan, Hayden and Melissa spoke beautifully and lovingly about their Dad. They all felt loved by him. Others spoke of Dave's humbleness as he went through life quietly doing good without others knowing about it. Dave, I wish I had known you better. I will miss you. Be at peace, friend.

Dave was a kind and thoughtful person, and so bright. I remember his gravelly sort of voice always leading to a smile. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Dave was q wonderful person who will be missed by many in this community. I was a few years older than Dave when his mother Grace taught all us kids in the Park Avenue neighborhood to swim and dive at Granite Dells.

Condolences especially to Grace, Ann, Beth, Mike, and Maria. I am thinking of them as well as Dave each day as I drive Park Avenue.
