Mrs. Hine

Karen J. Stafford Hine passed away in a rollover vehicle accident in the vicinity of Crown King, Ariz. Karen was 62 years of age and a resident of Crown King since March of 2007. The accident occurred at mile marker 24.6 on the Crown King Road on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at approximately 7 a.m. Karen was on her way to a dental appointment.

Karen was born at Fort Lawton, in the Seattle area, on July 31, 1951. Her father was John E. Stafford Sr.; Karen's mother was Violet L. Nelson Brinton.

Karen attended several schools while growing up in the Parkland, Wash., area. In 1970, she graduated from Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan.

Karen was employed by the Bell Telephone Co. in 1971 and remained with the phone company through many reorganizations until her retirement in 2006 from Qwest. During Karen's employment, she was a special services tester. To retain employment, Karen had to relocate several times - from Wyoming to Arizona to Washington State and back to Arizona - before retiring.

Karen was preceded in death by both her father and mother.

Karen is survived by her husband Mark; her sisters Sandy and Pam; and her three brothers, John, Jay and Bruce.

Karen's remains will be transported to Washington State for interment. Services will be 2 p.m. Sept. 14, 2013, at Fir Lane Memorial Park, 924 176th Street E., Spanaway, Wash. Interment will take place 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Fir Lane.

A service for Karen will also take place 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Crown King Community Church on Gladiator Road. The minister will be Tony Nelson. A cross has been placed at the scene of the crash by Dimitri Paccioni, and flowers may be placed at the cross after the service.

Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family.

Thank you Dimitri Paccioni for the beautiful Cross left at the accident site.
I am so thankful to God that Karen and I talked by phone the Sat before her accident and were able to share our love as sisters for each other. I miss her tremendously...

Thank you for stating her cause of death. It always leaves one wondering especially when it is someone young. What a tragic loss. My sympathy to her husband and family. I am sure she will be missed. God speed.
