James Watt Perry and Jean Elaine Howell were united in marriage on Dec. 10, 1949.
James Watt Perry and Jean Elaine Howell were united in marriage on Dec. 10, 1949, in Brophy Chapel, Phoenix, Ariz. Sixty years of love and six children later, they are now blessed with two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jean was born in Akron, Ohio. She was raised in Chicago. Her family moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she graduated with the class of 1943 from St. Mary's High School. She went on to Arizona State Teachers College, now known as ASU-Sun Devils. Jean was one of three original Tempe Bulldogs cheer squad, captain of both girl's basketball team and swim team.
Jim served in World War II, USN. He is proud to be a fourth-generation Arizonian. His great-grandparents settled in Buckeye, Ariz., in 1874.
