Some of the winners of the 2012 writing contest sponsored by the Professional Writers of Prescott (PWP) had the opportunity to read their winning entries on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Prescott Public Library. Not all winners were in attendance; winners of the contest who were present to read included the following local writers:

Nornie Isley - Poetry 1st Place for "Poet's Song" and"On Being Sixty-One"; David Byrn - Poetry 3rd Place for "Salado Fragment"; Gretchen Phelps (dual winner) - Fiction 2nd Place for "Fog in a Trunk" and Non-Fiction 3rd Place for "Wild Dogs"; and Russell Miller - Non-Fiction 1st Place for "Wounded Wit". Professional Writers of Prescott extends a heartfelt congratulations to these and all winners, and thanks the judges and writers who participated to make this contest a success.

The annual contest for fiction, non-fiction and poetry has gained nationwide attention with contestants (and winners) from Arizona and out-of-state, and has grown over recent years. The contest launches each year in April and winners are determined by September of that year.
