PRESCOTT - Dogs will take center stage at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, when various groups gather for the sixth annual Dogtoberfest.

The free-admission event will include a pet adopt-a-thon, as well as fun activities for dogs and their owners.

The schedule will kick off with a blessing of the animals by Father Rich Wozniak at 10:15 a.m., and will continue with a number of activities, such as costume contests, an owner look-alike contest, dog training demos, a police K-9 unit demonstration, best-looking dog contest, ugliest dog contest, and dog races.

Going on all day will be a variety of services, including canine good citizens certification evaluations, low-cost microchipping and vaccinations, pet photos, pet tags, nail trims, chair massages, and caricature drawings.

The VitaHound organization attended the event again this year, and again we were impressed with the dogs and their owners. The Prescott community cares for their pets and the people have amazing relationships with their dogs. The feedback provided by the numerous dog owners on their choices of dog supplements and various other areas of care for their hounds provides our staff with valuable nuggets of info on dog health + the people are fun creating one of our favorite events. See every one in 2013.
