McCain plans Prescott visit Monday

Sen. John McCain will be in Prescott on election eve, according to the Yavapai County Republican Party.

He plans to attend the party's annual Victory Rally at approximately 9 p.m. Monday on the historic courthouse plaza. The rally starts at 6 p.m. and typically attracts Republican elected officials from around the state.

McCain's campaign officials and Republican National Committee officials could not confirm for The Daily Courier Thursday that McCain would attend the event.

However, Yavapai County Republican Party Chair Jan Smith said McCain's advance team confirmed the event with her on Thursday, so the county party announced the visit on its website.

McCain was on the same courthouse steps in April during his "Service to America Tour," which touted sites across the country that have had a significant impact on his values.

"Prescott is where our beloved Barry Goldwater formally began his Senate campaigns and his campaign for the presidency on the steps of the Yavapai County Courthouse," McCain said during his April speech. "As his successor and in deference to his tradition, I have ended all my Senate campaigns here.

"Prescott, Arizona's territorial capital, occupies a special place in the history of Arizona, and in the Goldwater legend."

is if Obama loses (which I believe he will) how will his followers react? The general consensus is that they will riot, burn their own neighborhoods, shoot white people, violent protests, etc, etc. I think that speaks volumes about what kind of person Obama is and what sort of idealism he represents

Yes, I am gonna try going, McCain is a good guy. He doesn't murder innocent babies. and the soldiers in Iraq have instinct and guns. At least they have had a life and know what their doing. And they chose to go. Look a the facts wisely. If I could vote I would totally vote for McCain. The only problem is that I'm only 15. =(

We need Obama's change in our country like I need a sharp stick in my eye! You tell me to wake up and vote for Obama or else. I say the exact opposite. A vote for Obama is a vote for socialism and destruction of freedom. Vote McCain!!

I don't believe Obama is a Muslim terrorist, either. I do believe he is a political puppet who will say and do whatever the highest bidder asks of him. Once again, what qualifies him to be the next president? NOTHING! I expect the typical,loud-mouth liberal response at the midnight rally. They'll show up and be rude and disruptive because how dare anyone voice an opinion other than theirs. I can't stand Obama and most Dems, but I would not disrupt one of their speeches. If you can't be right, be wrong at the top of your voice! BOO-YAH!

This is an important event in our nation's history. Prescott should be honored that John McCain is counting on Prescott as soft place to land in his own state, as his last stop before voting day. Quiet, private conservatives should come out in force to show loud mouthed liberals that they are not a majority. Regardless of one's political affiliation, Prescott should show John McCain the support and respect he so deserves for his life of service to our country.

I have seen many of the type of trailer guys like that around, when legitimately disabled people are unable to get the benefits they so desperately need. and yes I think this low-life is serious, and that is exactly why we should all vote for McCain because this guy is exactly what a socialistic government will bring about in huge numbers. It is like that all over Europe, especially in France and Germany because spreading the wealth creates the I don't give a darn attitude and break the back of the will to succeed. why work when the government will buy you a case of beer each night so you have more excuses for not getting a real job? This guy needs to get off his behind and earn his own money not share mine.

Chino Valley trailer guy, I hope that you are kidding and just trying to make a point! If not I am so sad that the government only pays for a cheap case of beer in the evening so that you don't have to work and "come home tired". We sure wouldn't want you to come home tired after working and being part of a functioning society. Come on now this kind of lazy leeching off of society is shameful!! Get a bike and ride to chino and get your lazy butt to work!! I sure hope voting was to great a burden upon your schedule because your type of vote will ruin this country

Dear chino valley person RWA2@CFL.RR.COM. How dare the republicans expect you to get a job and make the money for your own movies and BEER!! What is this country coming to. How dare they not force ME to pay to abort ("get rid of" like taking out the garbage) of your neice or nephew. Give me a break. Take some responsibility for your own choices and GET A JOB just like the rest of us. I'm 55 and few years has my home made near 30,000 often far less. This year was under 15,000 and hubby was laid off two weeks ago from his roofing job. We live well... don't spend money we don't have and OWN a nice home. It's called being RESPONSIBLE. Sit around watching movies and getting drunk on your own money not mine!!

Article comment by: Wake up and don't drink this koolaide

I am a veteran and a proud american, I also am very proud to support John McCain instead of the radical left wing radicals who are trying so hard to allow the government to control every aspect of everything in our lives. You same leftists whined about the invasion of privacy for monitoring terrorist phone calls, but now you are ready to hand over the same rights of privacy lock stock and barrel to a trifecta leberal government only seeking to spend your money as they see fit and leave you with only what they think you need. Shame on each and every one of you. Obama has confirmed everything McCain and Palin have said about him over and over. What does he have to say that he is a true communist marxist to get you to actually see him for what he is? he has lied about his associations, lied about his campaign promises, changed his mind at least 5 time on his definition of what rich is, and has never worked successfully on a bipartisan project. In fact he has never done anything except vote present or apoligize for being late to his place of duty since he has been elected. He has never accomplished any promise to his constituents, but he has lied and done exactly opposite of what he said he would. I would be ashamed to associate with any of you who are so gullible to fall for his eloquent lies, because obvious you are the same type of koolaide drinkers who even though knowing the drink was poison would still drink it.

Mark my word everyone of you mocking the only truly bipartisan promoter of the senate will wish you had stuck with the only honest person in the campaign. at least his record is a transparent one while the other is hidden or none-existent. I have lived overseas for many years in socialistc societies aqnd you should all be thankful for what you have had until now. i do pray for that miracle to happen because the alternative will be pure hell in no time at all. get ready for the worst depression in world history under the most extreme left triple threat government ever. You thought Jimmy Carter's time was bad with the Gas wars and out of control inflation, you haven't seen anything until you pay 7 dollars per gallon of fuel like I had to in Europe in the 1980's , but you will!!!

So the whole Republican party is bad because of a few people you don't like? Using that logic on the Democratic side I give you these two names; Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton. Oh yeah, there's a good example of great character! No party is totally perfect.

I am looking forward to McCain's stop! Maybe some of the people voting for Obama should do a little research on his past and what he really has planned for America. John McCain fought for his country! I am behind McCain and Palin 100%.

I live in a trailer in chino valley and I cant drive into town to find a job due to gas prices. The goverment gives me money which is barely enough for groceries and if I am lucky a few movies and a case of cheap beer in the evenings. when obama is president, I will get a tax break which will get me a check from the goverment for more food and supplies that I need. Mccain's plan is that I have to work full time for bad pay and tired when I get home. I dont want to have to leave my trailer or sell my dogs just to live in peace and free from war and do what I want in the planet. the rebulicans say that my sister cant get rid of her baby just cus she is 15, long story but I love her stil. VOTE FOR OBAMA !

Man! people don't vote for either one of them. when are we going to learn that the dems and the repubs are the same. How about WE choose the right person and not on a party ticket. I would say that both of these men are more than likely decent human beings within themselves but again I say don't vote the ticket. When did this country stop allowing anyone the right to free speech? How about the other candidates on the ticket? Did they get to say anything in front of the public or press? Talk about suppression of freedom of speech. We either get socialism or communism which one do you want? How about americanism.

Someone ought to let John McCain know the Mexican Army crossed the border, again, near Yuma the other day. It was a HumVee with a patrol of seven soldiers and auto weapons. All those years of promises while he was in government and we still have a Swiss cheese border. Time for someone else.

To keep the McCain supporter's comments in perspective: These are the same knowledgeable and well-meaning folks that brought us Rick Renzi and George W. Bush. With this in mind, perhaps you'll understand why others might challenge your good judgment regarding your "conservative family values" candidates.

When I was in the third grade I was in cub scouts. Obama was attending Muslim grade schools in Indonesia. He does not share our heritage and the values of most Americans, period.

You make it a lot esier for me. I go to post a comment and then find you said exactly what I wanted to say. I will be so glad when this election is over. Unfortunately, I got sucked in to all the negativity on this website. I have since washed it off and am moving on. To all voters, make a choice, but don't go ranting, raving, whining and crying when your candidate loses. Division is destroying this country. No matter who is in the White House, we, as Americans, can still stand together, united, or else the world will watch us divide and fall.
