Generation: Playing for the future

Generation recently performed a 90-minute concert for the people of Bagdad. Band members, from left, are Keenan Hammack, Bix Glidden, Cole Driescher, Kylee Driescher, Cheyenne Jasper, Kiva Keith, Glory Glidden, Wade Strader, Matt Haynes and William Llewellyn.

Generation is a 10-piece teenage string band sponsored by Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott. The goal of the program is to promote traditional and historic music education in the next generation of Arizona's leaders, and to create interest in continuing the mission of the museum. Led by Musical Director Jerry Johnson, Generation is made up of some of the area's finest musicians, performing regionally themed music for the general public.

Look for Generation in the Chino Valley Territorial Days Parade on Aug. 31, and this year's Folk Music Festival at Sharlot Hall Museum on Oct. 5 and 6. Parties interested in inviting the group to perform are encouraged to call John Langellier, executive director, The Sharlot Hall Museum, 445-3122.

You missed the point. The kids are great, Jerry is great, the Smith- Fornaras are to be commended. John Langellier lacks integrity and true vision, but he will always take credit, even when he deserves none.

Yep! Right you are on both counts. Jody's contribution is undeniable, and Jeri Smith-Fornara has helped us to continue our efforts like a true angel. I'm grateful that I get to work with these fine young people, and a lot of it has been due to Jody and Jeri.

Generations would never have happened if not for Jody Drake. I do not expect to see John Langellier credit her with that either.

Surprised that John Langellier did not
credit the Jeri and David Smith-Fornara Trust
for the funding of Generation, including the
services of musical director Jerry Johnson.
None of this would have happened without the Smith-Fornaras.
