Name: Karen Elizabeth Fann

Birthplace: St. Louis. Mo.
Years in Legislative District One/Arizona: Moved to Prescott at age 4, grew up in Prescott and El Cajon, Calif., returned to Prescott in 1982, lived seven years in Chino Valley before returning to Prescott three years ago.
Occupation: Owner of Arizona Highway Safety Specialists, a Chino Valley highway construction company specializing in the installation of guardrails and signs.
Political experience: one term in Arizona Legislature; Chino Valley Town Council 2002-09 including six years as mayor; Prescott City Council 1992-95; chair of Governors' Commission on Non-Traditional Employment for Women 1994-96.
Other experience: As business owner, deals with government issues relating to legal contracts and health insurance. Served on numerous committees.
Education: Some college.
Top 3 issues facing district: Jobs/economy, water issues including drought and water shortages, education and Mexican border security.
Why are you running for this office?
"I'm very proud of what our Legislative District One team has accomplished and I want to help keep us going down the right path. I had 12 active bills and the Legislature approved 11 of them. That's huge for a freshman, especially considering that most of them dealt with significant issues."
