1/6/2013 10:12:00 PM 'Last Supper' quilt on display Jan. 21
The Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild is sponsoring the showing of "The Supper" quilt from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the Pueblo Building of the Smoki Museum, 147 North Arizona Ave. in Prescott. A $5 donation is required.
Don Locke, a retired dentist, made "The Supper" quilt out of 51,816 pieces of half-inch squares of fabric, sewn together on a Singer Featherweight sewing machine. It is 15 feet three inches wide by 5 feet 6 inches high, using 350 different fabrics. It took Don 2-1/2 years and 1,200 hours to complete. Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" was the inspiration for the quilt. This is the first time the quilt will be shown in Northern Arizona. Don will also bring some antique quilts to show.
This fundraiser will benefit LVQG's community project program. For more information, call Carol at 772-3947.
