Correction: This article has been updated to correct the start time to be 8 p.m. for all movies.

PRESCOTT - Beginning at 8 this evening, the City of Prescott will kick off a series of free outdoor summer movies on the courthouse plaza.

As a part of its annual Summer Concert Series, the city will show a half-dozen Wednesday-night movies throughout the summer on a large screen on the north side of the courthouse plaza.

Tonight's film is the 2004 adventure "National Treasure" starring Nicolas Cage.

Prescott Special Events Manager Becky Karcie said all of the movies will be appropriate for families, and will be rated either G or PG. They also will begin at 8 p.m.

Other offerings include:

• June 20 - "Secondhand Lions"

• July 11 - "Dreamer"

• Aug. 1 - "Yours, Mine & Ours"

• Aug. 15 - "Night at the Museum"

• Aug. 29 - "Marley and Me."

... wish they had chosen another night. Every Wednesday night at 6:30 the Prescott Film Festival and YC Performing Arts Center present films. While they are reasonably priced at $5 for seniors/students and $7 for general admission, they still aren't free like the city is presenting. Wish they had chosen Thursday nights, as I am doing all the Wednesday nights films at YCPAC.

It looks like they start at 6:30 at least that's what the City of Prescott web site says.
