Police released the names Thursday of two victims whose bodies were found on March 16 after a house fire in Prescott Valley.
Penelope Edwards, 35, and Troy Dunn, 38, of Prescott Valley both sustained head trauma, and their deaths were ruled to be homicides, said Prescott Valley Police Sgt. Brandon Bonney.
The suspect, Kenneth Wayne Thompson, 28, of Doniphan, Mo., who had been in the Coconino County Jail, has been extradited to the Yavapai County Jail where he is being held without bond, Bonney said.
Thompson is Edwards' brother-in-law, Bonney said.
"This was not a crime perpetrated by a stranger," Bonney said. "We want to stress that we are not currently looking for any other suspects in this case."
Investigators recovered a weapon in Thompson's vehicle that would be consistent with the injuries the victims sustained, although at this point it has not been definitively identified as the murder weapon, Bonney said.
For the past few days, detectives have served search warrants and conducted additional interviews in Thompson's hometown in Missouri as the investigation continues, Bonney said.
