2014 Mile High Challenge Wrestling Tournament: Day 1

PRESCOTT VALLEY - Nineteen varsity wrestlers from Prescott, Bradshaw Mountain and Chino Valley high schools advanced to the bracket round of the third annual Mile High Challenge Friday at Tim's Toyota Center.

Defending Mile High champion Camp Verde sent 10 of its wrestlers to the bracket round.

What follows is a breakdown of the results from the local grapplers on the opening day of the 33-team tournament:

• Kendall Foster, Chino Valley 106 pounds, 4-0 record on Friday (No. 1 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Hayden Uhler, Camp Verde 106 pounds, 4-0 (No. 3 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Alex Casillas, Camp Verde 113 pounds, 2-2 (No. 1 seed): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Stockten Heiner, Chino Valley 120 pounds, 4-0 (unseeded): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Matt Mejia, Camp Verde 120 pounds, 4-0 (No. 2 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Ezekiel Casillas, 126 pounds, 4-0 (No. 4 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Jeremy Reber, Prescott High 126 pounds, 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Tierney Rose, Prescott High 132 pounds, 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Alex Noone, Camp Verde 132 pounds, 2-2 (No. 7 seed): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Jarrett Cain, Bradshaw Mountain 132 pounds, 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Ian Cobb, Chino Valley 138 pounds, 4-0 (unseeded): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Ryan Allred, Camp Verde 145 pounds, 4-0 (No. 1 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Tim LaMaster, Prescott High 152 pounds, 4-0 (No. 5 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Damian Crary, Chino Valley 152 pounds, 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Dakota Vaughan, Prescott High 160 pounds, 4-0 (No. 1 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Eric Mannix, Chino Valley 160 pounds, 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Chance Weir, Camp Verde 160 pounds, 2-2 (No. 4 seed): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Russ Dodge, Bradshaw Mountain 170 pounds, 4-0 (No. 8 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Daniel Locke, Prescott High 170 pounds, 4-0 (No. 3 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Jeremy McEachem, Camp Verde 170 pounds, 4-0 (No. 2 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Levi Arce, Chino Valley 170 pounds, 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Cooper Allen, Prescott High 182 pounds, 4-0 (No. 7 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Daniel Hernandez, Prescott High 195 pounds, 4-0 (No. 1 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Peter Hodan, Bradshaw Mountain 195 pounds, 2-2 (No. 2 seed): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Devon Walls, Camp Verde 220 pounds, 3-1 (unseeded): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• Zach Wilson, Prescott High 220 pounds, 3-1 (No. 8 seed): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• David Rupp, Prescott High 285 pounds (heavyweight), 4-0 (No. 1 seed): advanced to championship bracket quarterfinals.

• John Trout, Bradshaw Mountain 285 pounds (heavyweight), 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

• Connor Zale, Camp Verde 285 pounds (heavyweight), 2-2 (unseeded): in consolation bracket quarterfinals.

The Mile High Challenge continues from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday with the remainder of the championship rounds. The finals are scheduled for 6-9 p.m.
