The Freedom Pro Baseball League on Thursday announced plans for expansion throughout Arizona and California.
The league has also agreed to play interleague games with Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs (PAPBC) for the 2013 season. The PAPBC has teams in San Rafael, Calif., Maui and Hilo, Hawaii.
"We learned in our first season that this is a business model that can be successful," General Manager Michael King said in a statement. "The Pacific Association has some very strong ballplayers and we're looking forward to showcasing our talents on a larger stage."
The Freedom Pro Baseball League currently has teams playing in Prescott, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Peoria, with plans to expand into Surprise and Salt River Field in Scottsdale.
Last season, the Montezuma Federals, the Prescott club, went 29-30-1 to finish in second place in the four-team league.
