While the make-shift memorial continues to grow outside of Prescott Fire Department Station No. 7, on Sixth Street in Prescott, a community-wide memorial is in the works.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, the Prescott Fire Department said.

I am befuddled. The paper is reporting this as a public event, correct? Then why am I hearing otherwise, that it is for invited friends and family only and the public may view from outside the building? Could the Courier please clear this up?
Thanks you!

Your article describes this as a community-wide memorial but info coming out sounds like the community will be placed outside with families, friends and others inside permitted by tickets Would be better if we had the whole story and not just bits and pieces Lucky I'm one of those that doesn't believe in everything that the media gives us

To: "Tired of it all" and "Weekday working hours"...FYI, events like this, in the venue it is scheduled in, are set up around the availability of the facility. Nobody tried to deny you anything. Get over yourself...show some respect. Think about the others from wherever you are, like the rest of us will be.

My prayers go out to all the friends & families who lost their loved one in the fire. I was just devastated when I heard the sad news from a friend who is now a widow. I immediately stopped what I was doing & went to support her and her child. The support this community has given is amazing. Tuesday, I will be working a block away, and I will be @ Tim's Toyota Center in spirit. I received a text message a few days before the loss of our 19 HERO'S, " I'm proud of you kid, suit up & show up, and enjoy the ride."
I will always remember the message I received. You are now enjoying your ride up in heaven, and now you are an angel. R.I.P. MY FRIEND!

When I first came to town the "blue laws" were still in effect nothing was open on Sundays.
Also during hunting season there'd be a sign on the doors "gone Hunting"
Tuesday should be no different, everything should be closed 10:30 to 2:00 in respect for those who lost their lives for this County.
A grateful OLD TIMER

I, as many others, are no longer in the area so we cant participate. Can you who do attend, make sure you get it uploaded to YouTube so we can see it later? In Florida, we are 3 hours ahead of you. Thank You

What isnt being told is that this memorial is for firefighters and families, not the general public. Thousands of firefighters are expected, and the citizens of the quad cities have to wait outside.

I will make sure that I will be there. I will make sure to have video and pictures done. Stuff that the news wont have if you cant attend and I will have it posted on my facebook.
I grew up with fire department in Flagstaff station 17 as my grandpa was a fire fighter for 21 years. These guys are amazing and I always will support what they do for us and appreciate all they do all year long.

With the memorial being a workday, I truly hope that employers both local and in the Valley show their support by letting their employees attend this memorial. This is one time that the "bottom dollar" can be and should be over-looked. As a former business owner, I can't imagine telling an employee they couldn't attend such an event. Listen up business owners....please!

With all due respect to the firefighters, who came up with the idea of 11am? I would have liked to have gone to the memorial as well!
