• 13th annual Valley of Lights at 6-10 p.m. nightly at Fain Park in Prescott Valley, featuring more than a million lights in 48 displays along a one-mile drive. Look for the huge lighted toy soldier along Highway 69 and follow the lights. Donations accepted. (772-8857 and www.pvchamber.org)

• Gingerbread Village display at Prescott Resort and Conference Center lobby, 1500 Highway 69, open 24 hours a day. Free.



Friday, Dec. 7

• Holiday Festival of Lights and Night Light Parade at Prescott Valley Civic Center Amphitheater, 7501 E. Civic Circle, at 5-7:30 p.m. Features singers and children's story time before lights come on at 5:50 p.m., and then the Night Light parade begins. Afterwards join Santa in the library for photos, see puppet shows and vote for your favorite Create-A-Tree display. Free.

• Acker Musical Showcase at 5:30-8:30 p.m. in downtown Prescott features more than 100 musical groups performing in businesses. Donations accepted for local youth performing arts programs. (www.ackershowcase.com)

• A Dickens Christmas Dinner and Benefit at 7 p.m. in the Yavapai College Library Community Room in Building 15, 1100 E. Sheldon St. Featuring the YC Cantamos Choir and Dickens Era Carolers with dinner to benefit scholarships and Choral Union's trip to sing at Carnegie Hall. $50 (776-2045)



Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 8-9 and Dec. 15-16

• The Prescott YMCA Dance Department presents a suite of free dances from the Nutcracker Ballet at the Prescott Gateway Mall at 2 and 4 p.m. each day. Seating near the Sears wing is limited. (445-7221)



Sunday, Dec. 9

• "Santa with the Animals" at 1-3 p.m. at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, 1403 Heritage Park Rd. in Prescott. Santa will bring presents to the wild animals. (778-4242 and www.heritageparkzoo.org)

• 2nd annual Boot Drop on Whiskey Row in downtown Prescott starts at 8 p.m. with entertainment. Giant lighted boot drops at 10 p.m. for the early birds and again at midnight with fireworks display.

• "Dancing through the Decades" with dancing to the Prescott Pops Dance Band and Tumbledown House at 8 p.m. to midnight at the Elks Opera House, 117 E. Gurley St. in Prescott.
